INTERVENTIONS – Selected Political Writings

Interventions features more than 30 published writings by Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, one of Sri Lanka’s leading public intellectuals, a political scientist, former activist, academic and ambassador who is recognized for his independent-mindedness and speaking “truth to power” regardless of personal and career consequences. The essays have been carefully selected by the editors from a number of publications, both local and international which they felt would benefit from being assembled into a book for the lessons they impart as original insights and analyses of an enduring nature. It is also a distillation of the author’s life and career, his abiding interests and interventions in political affairs and discussions.

The editors compiled an exhaustive catalogue in 2023. The final selection reflects the complexities of contemporary crises, both national and international, and are a window into the politics of Sri Lanka and the world. As such it is of lasting relevance to every student of politics, national and global, and political ideas.
